Review: Tarte Gifted Mascara

In accordance with my efforts to buy cruelty free, I tried a new make-up line that, so far, I absolutely LOVE.

Not only are they cruelty free but they’re all natural and their make-up actually strives to enrich and improve your skin. Oh, AND the packaging is so fantastic. Every time I pull out my new mascara I can’t stop smiling about how damn cute it is.

Check this info:

Tarte is the leader in earth engineered™ beauty offering the widest selection of natural cosmetics full of skinvigorating™ ingredients including our proprietary t5 super fruit complex™ (a blend of the five most active, free-radical fighting super fruits), vitamins, minerals and natural fruit and plant extracts. But it’s not just about what’s in our healthy formulas; it’s what’s not in them that really sets us apart! Our products areformulated without parabens, phthalates and synthetic fragrances, just to name a few.

So cool!

The mascara I bought is the Gifted: Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara.

I’ve never loved a mascara. I don’t think I’ve ever even bought the same kind twice. I was using DiorShow before but hated the way it when on for the first month, for some reason once the product gets a little thicker (older) it goes on better. But at $24 a tube and an unclear answer on whether they test on animals, that shit had to go. Gifted is only $19 which ain’t too shabby for high quality, healthy make-up.

The Tarte mascara isn’t goopy at all. It separates the lashes fantastically and gives them great length. It’s not the best if you really want thick lashes. For me the sheer length makes up for the lack of chubbiness. Even with two or three coats there’s no icky spider leg effect.

You know what I’m talking about.

I also bought some foundation but haven’t tried it yet since I’m still using up my old Laura Mercier bottle. That’s another thing, just because you go cruelty free, don’t throw away unused product! You already bought it, so you might as well use it. Don’t be wasteful. If you just can’t stand to put it on, give it to a friend.

I can’t wait to try more Tarte products. I’ll have to wait until I’m less of a broke ho. Unless I can figure out a way to score free swag.

On a scale of 1 to 10 puppies (that I don’t eat), I give this mascara:

9 puppies
